Back-to-School Round Up: Lunchbox Essentials

We all wish summer could last forever but alas, we’ve come to that time of year, when our kids go back to school!
Gone are the days of sleeping in and staying up late, the carefree days of summer. It’s back to the routine and back to making lunches for suburban mamas and papas across the U.S.
Here are a few products that came our way that make the grade and will surely make its way to lunchboxes too!

Go Organically® Fruit Snacks

These USDA-certified organic fruit snacks are made with real fruit purées and real fruit juices. They may not come in fancy superhero shapes like other fruit snacks but they taste good and according to the package, include “100% of the daily recommended value of Vitamin C and are an excellent source of Vitamins A and E.” For more information, visit

Yes, water is the best beverage you can give your kids but when they want some flavor in their drinks, here are two to try.

AquaBall is a naturally flavored water drink. It contains a total of four ingredients plus four essential vitamins and comes in flavors kids love including Berry Frost, Fruit Punch, Grape and Strawberry Lemonade. The packaging featuring characters from Disney Princesses to Marvel Superheroes appeal to kids but the round-shaped bottle can be a challenging to pack in some lunch boxes. For more information, visit

Sparkling Ice is a tasty soda alternative. With slight carbonation, Sparkling Ice has zero calories and NO CAFFEINE. It is also gluten free and sodium free. Flavors include a line of teas and lemonades. The slim cans are convenient to pack in lunch boxes. Though check with your school first if this drink is allowed, since I know some may consider it a soda, even if it technically is a sparkling water drink. For more information, visit

Add a sandwich, rice or noodles. Slice up some vegetables and fruit and you have a good lunch that will keep your child energized during the whole school day.

You could brown bag it, of course, but a good lunch container alternative we’re loving right now is the Bentology kit. The insulated bag is equipped with convenient compartments and a water bottle holder on the side. The Bento Set can be used to store your lunch and snacks INSIDE the Bentology Kit/lunchbox! Each Bento Set is comprised of plastic containers that are mix and matched in size with leak-proof, snap-on lids. The various sizes are good for portion control or if you are a picky eater, like many kids I know, each food group doesn’t need to touch! The lids also keep the foods fresh and safe during travel.
