CARLSBAD, Calif. (Oct. 12, 2012) – Fangs, capes, vests and bow ties…these aren’t the usual sightings at a family theme park, but at LEGOLAND® California Resort today, these items could be seen on more than 700 guests as they attempted to break the world record for the most people dressed as vampires in one location at one time. Although the family theme park came up short of the Guinness World Record of 1,039 recorded last year, children and their families had fun taking pictures, interacting with entertainers and enjoying the festive atmosphere.
The world record attempt is part of LEGOLAND California Resort’s Brick-or-Treat, San Diego’s largest kids Halloween celebration. All participating children not only received a return ticket to the Park, but were treated to Halloween entertainment including stilt walking vampires, tap dancing skeletons, a juggler, unicyclist and fortune teller. Guests also interacted with characters such as Howlin’ Howie, Jester Funny Bones and Hubble Bubble from the “Boo Crew” and LEGO® Lord Vampyre. The group photo was taken in front of a 10-foot-tall model of Lord Vampyre created out of 150,000 LEGO bricks that guests built the previous weekend.
“We are always looking for ways to expand on our popular Brick-or-Treat experience with new interactive experiences and breaking the world record for the most vampires seemed like good family fun,” said LEGOLAND California Resort General Manager Peter Ronchetti.” “After seeing how excited the families were to get all dressed up and be a part of something historic, we are determined to make another attempt at the world record next year.”
There are three more weekends for guests to come out and enjoy LEGOLAND California’s Brick-or-Treat. The Halloween celebration is geared for children 12 and under and at Brick-or-Treat Party Nights every Saturday in October from 5 – 9 p.m., guests experience two Brick-or-Treat trails plus a bonus treat station at SEA LIFE® Aquarium for a safe, fun and entertaining trick-or-treating experience plus costume contests, festive music, entertainment, an animated light show and fireworks to cap off the night at 9 p.m.
