If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you would’ve noticed that our family’s pretty big on science. From the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia to Santa Ana’s Discovery Science Center, we love visiting science centers, natural history museums and attending science-oriented events.
When my older son was little and I couldn’t find any science program geared towards preschoolers, I came up with my own program called “Storytime Science.” It was tons of fun but also lots of work, figuring out clever ways to present scientific concepts to preschoolers. Thankfully, now there’s Sid the Science Kid!
Sure he’s a computer generated muppet with purple dreadlocks (the show is produced by the Jim Henson Company, after all) but he’s a cool kid with an inquiring mind and a penchant for breaking into song (do I see GLEE in his future? Just kidding.)
Here’s a sneak peek at an upcoming special called “No School Singalong” (it’ll air on June 21st, so you are definitely getting a scoop).
Want your kids to meet Sid in real life? Join me at Pretend City Children’s Museum on Friday, June 11th. Sid the Science Kid will be at the museum from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a very special Way to Play Day with Sid! there will be a sing-along parade with Sid, photo ops and prize giveaways.
Here’s a special 2-for-1 admission ticket that you can use on Way to Play days, including during Sid’s visit on June 11th.
