As we head back to school in the New Year, many moms will have to figure out what to pack in their kids lunch boxes. I try to be health-conscious as possible, packing fruit and protein and avoiding sugar, when I can. But making all that’s healthy appealing to kids can be challenging. I try to avoid pre-packaged foods as much as possible but sometimes you find something that’s both convenient and healthy. Like our new discovery – Slammers Snacks.
I gave some samples to our friends’ kids’ just to see what they thought of these “superfood snacks designed to fuel kids with organic fruits and vegetables such as mangoes, acai, sweet potato, and yumberries.” (P.S. What ARE yumberries?) For the most part, it was the younger kids that liked it! My own tween and teen said they’d take it in a crunch, but would still prefer a smoothie.
Younger kids are familiar with the pouches and the texture. For me personally, some of the flavors did taste like baby food but some of my mommy friends said they’d gladly take Slammers as a snack for themselves.
