#CosmeticareMoms: What Really Happened When I Got Botox

There’s a funny thing that happens in medicine. Medications are created to treat one thing and end up benefiting a totally different thing. And so it goes with Botox injections. The botulinum toxin derived from bacteria (the bacterium clostridium botulinum) can be used to treat muscle problems but is more popular for reducing wrinkles. Basically, the toxin injected into the skin, blocks nerve signals that tell our muscles to contract. Your facial muscles are actually paralyzed for a few months, reducing wrinkles and lines on your face.

I never thought I’d be the type of person to try something like Botox but at the hands of Cosmeticare, I was willing to give it a shot. (Pun intended.)

Here’s what happened when I got my first Botox injection:

Getting the Botox injection just took a few minutes and it wasn’t really painful at all. The effects were immediate to some degree and I felt odd for a couple of days, not physically, just mentally, I guess.

The full effect took a little over a week and I am writing this 2 months after the injection and frankly, I’ve gotten used to it. A friend of mine told me that she could go months between injections because her muscles had gotten used to not moving a certain way. So, in effect, she had less creases on her forehead because she was more conscious about not raising her eyebrows or frowning.

The change is subtle thanks to the expert hands at Cosmeticare. You’ve seen the “frozen faces” that look unnatural on some celebrities, which is probably what gives Botox a bad name. But if you feel like turning back the hands of time, go ahead and try Botox. It’s the best and quickest non-surgical procedure that will produce immediate effects. Remember that you will have to return for injections every 3 to 4 months to keep the effect.

Here’s what I look like now. And just for comparison, this is 40-something year old me with young twenty-something model/singer Ariana Escalante, who I recently worked with on a project.
