Five for the Road: Things We’re Loving Right Now

For many busy moms, convenience is always a consideration when packing that diaper bag or mom purse. Here are 5 items we at SuburbanMamas.com are loving right now.

MD Moms Babysafe Sunscreen Towelettes and Daily UV Shield Moisturizing Lotion
These two products are the dynamic duo for sunscreen products. These baby-safe SPF 30 sunscreens are gentle, water resistant (80 minutes) and clinically proven non-irritating to eyes. They are developed for use on babies of all ages, even under 6 months! Our mom reviewer with a 13 month old liked that the product was certified hypoallergenic and dermatologist-approved. The product includes Vitamins E and B5, Avocado Oil & Grapeseed Oil. At $19 for 20 towelettes, and also $19 for a 2.7 oz lotion, it’s a bit pricey but better safe than sorry. MD Moms was recently named one of the best sunscreens on this list.

Wild Garden Hummus
Kind of like a grown-up lunchable. The Wild Garden Hummus Snack Packs pair a cracker or chips with gluten-free hummus. It’s great a snack for families on the go, but since our mom reviewer’s kids do not like hummus too much, she took the snack packs to work. While the hummus isn’t as tasty as homemade or even same-day made store bought hummus, it was okay. This hummus does not require any refrigeration so it is perfect for taking on the road. Our reviewer’s favorite was the Traditional Hummus with Multi-Seed Crackers. Other packs include Sea Salt Pita Chips, Sea Salt Quinoa Chips and Veggie Chips. You can also try them in combination with one of the following: traditional hummus, roasted garlic hummus and sun-dried tomato hummus. Prices range from $1.99-2.39 are pretty good for a mid-day snack.

Sigg Water Bottle
We love Sigg. It’s still the same eco-friendly reusable beverage bottle but with new colors! We received the pink and red ones for Mother’s Day a few months ago and are getting a lot of use from them. We simply love that Sigg has been around for over 100 years and have maintained the highest standards of Swiss quality and craftsmanship (like Swiss watches!)
By the way, don’t wash your Sigg bottle in the dishwasher. The people at mysigg.com recommend that washing by hand is the best way to keep your Sigg fresh and clean.

Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer

Here’s an item that’s more for mama than for baby. Being low maintenance Suburban Mamas, we love a product that makes us feel pretty and nourishes as well. That’s why we are loving Burt’s Bees Lip shimmer that adds a touch of color and moisturizes your lips too. It’s got shea butter and rich fruit oils. And there are lots of shimmering shades to choose from — our reviewer loves the raisin and caramel shades (and not because it sounds like food! LOL.) By the way, thanks to a touch of peppermint flavor, you get a tingly feeling in your lips too.

iPhone 6

We were due for a phone upgrade and we opted to get the iPhone 6 instead of the 6 Plus, which just looks so massive. It’s a little workhorse for this Suburban Mama – not only does it make calls (it is, after all, a phone – duh!) it also allows me to WORK on the road or in playgrounds and waiting rooms. You get the picture. And did I mention, the awesome camera?
